The Review of "Seven Pounds"

movies, Will Smith, Seven PoundsYesterday I watched a movie called “Seven Pounds” where Will Smith stars. This is kind of a psychological drama with somehow complicated plot. So in the movie Will introduces himself as Ben Thomas, who works in IRS (actually his real name is Tim Thomas, and he worked as an aeronautical engineer). 2 years before the events take place Tim drove a car with 7 people in it and got into a terrible car crash. Everyone but Tim died. So after this car accident Tim feels so guilty that he starts to look for people who he could serve as donor for. He donates a lung lobe to his brother, a part of his liver to a child services worker, a kidney to a hockey coach. Then he meets a beautiful girl Emily who needs a heart transplantation. They fall in love bla bla bla. Eventually, Tim decides to donate his heart to this girl. He calls emergency, fills a bathtub with ice water, and pulls his venomous jellyfish into the water so that it beats him. He dies and emergency calls Emily telling her that she must get ready for being operated.

Basically, his actions are served up as self-sacrifice and viewers are supposed to admire him. However, I did not. I didn’t feel any affection and liking for him. In my opinion, he seems to be a person with such a dull and extremely boring life, who does not care whether to die now or later. He did not think of helping more people during his life, but was obsessed with the idea to get rid of the feeling of guilt by doing extraordinary things.

Anyways, it’s interesting to watch the movie one time. But it definitely won’t be among my favorite ones hahaha!
